A man drowned during a midnight prayer session at Elegushi Beach in Lekki, Lagos.
The incident was reported to the Ilasan Police Division around 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday by an unnamed man, according to police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
The man reported that he, along with three friends, had left Igbesan in Ogun State for Elegushi Beach to pray.
During the session, which took place around 4:00 a.m., one of the friends, identified as 30-year-old Samuel, allegedly drowned.
Detectives from the Ilasan Police Division quickly visited the scene, and efforts are ongoing to recover Samuel’s body with the help of divers. Hundeyin confirmed that the deceased’s family has been informed and that an investigation into the incident is underway.
