President Bola Tinubu has emphasized the critical need for a transformation in Nigeria’s value system as a prerequisite for national advancement.

Speaking in Lagos during a visit from a delegation of the National Assembly to mark Eid-el Kabir, President Tinubu underscored the importance of shifting mindsets amidst current challenges.

He urged citizens to abandon unproductive behaviors such as rent-seeking and economic sabotage, stressing the necessity to enhance productivity and combat illicit activities like smuggling and infrastructure vandalism.

He said, “Good economics at a harsh time is the challenge that we must face. The campaign to change our value system is paramount.

“We must collectively alter our mindset towards our country to overcome the challenges we face.”

Acknowledging the support of the National Assembly, President Tinubu commended their partnership in achieving significant milestones during his administration.

“It is a source of great pride to have such capable partners in the National Assembly,” he stated, highlighting the importance of inclusive governance in addressing national hardships.

Addressing the nation’s pressing issues, President Tinubu vowed unwavering determination to tackle poverty, insecurity, and infrastructural deficiencies.

“We must eliminate banditry and terrorism to ensure farmers can safely harvest their crops and deliver food to the populace,” he emphasised.

In response to the visit, Senate President Sen. Godswill Akpabio expressed gratitude for President Tinubu’s leadership in his first year in office.
