Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has called on President Bola Tinubu to promptly address the grievances of Nigerians, stressing that it is insufficient for the President to merely acknowledge the public’s concerns.
In a statewide broadcast on Sunday, Fintiri urged that tangible actions are required rather than just verbal assurances.
Fintiri’s remarks came in the wake of the #EndBadGovernance protests, which have seen significant activity in various states.
He praised the residents of Adamawa for their peaceful conduct during the demonstrations while emphasizing the need for the Federal Government to act on the calls of the people.
He said, “The protest might be unpopular especially because of the way it was carried out in some states, but the message is clear and the demands are genuine. None of us can deny that there is hunger and general poverty.
“The lesson we must derive from the protest is the constant reminder that it is not enough to tell the citizens we have heard. We must be seen as doing the needful in providing solutions to citizens’ concerns.

He highlighted the importance of addressing these issues effectively and expeditiously.
The governor also emphasised that leaders must do more than just listen to public outcry; they must be proactive in finding and implementing solutions.

Reports indicate that after a surge of activity on August 1 and 2, protests in Adamawa State have largely subsided. Notably, no violent incidents have been reported in the state.
