In a surprising turn of events on the Big Brother Naija Season 9 reality show, the duo known as Tami—Toyosi and Damilola—was evicted during the live show on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
The pair faced elimination along with three other duos: Chekaz, Streeze, and Radicals. These four pairs had received the fewest votes from viewers.
The eviction of Tami was not unexpected.
Among the nominees, they were seen as the least engaging.
Damilola had fallen out with several housemates earlier in the week, which may have contributed to their lower vote count.
Although she later apologized, the tension had already impacted their standing in the house.
Toyosi also mentioned that she wasn’t shocked by the outcome.
The eviction show was hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, who announced that Tami was the first pair to leave the competition this season, called “No Loose Guard.”
Earlier in the week, the duos Ndinne (Nne and Chinwe) and Beta (Tjay and Ben) had secured their safety.
Ndinne won the first custodian challenge, while Beta emerged victorious in the immunity challenge.
The eviction process was different this season.
Viewers chose the four least popular pairs for potential eviction, moving away from the usual method where viewers vote to save their favorite duos.
After the initial nominations, housemates had to select one of these pairs for eviction.
Ndinne used their custodian power to save Radicals, leaving Tami among the pairs that faced the final vote.
After their exit, Damilola speculated that their eviction might have stemmed from the earlier disagreements with housemates.
Toyosi planned to return to nightlife activities after leaving the house.
Following the eviction, Ebuka addressed the remaining housemates, urging them to intensify their efforts.
He warned that the competition requires full participation from every member, and cautioned against relying too much on partners to carry the team.
The show continues with the remaining pairs, as the competition heats up and the stakes rise.
