Our collaboration with security agencies is robust, and we’ve positioned security personnel at key locations throughout Osogbo,” Olukanni said.
In addition to uniformed officers, plainclothes security personnel will be integrated seamlessly into the environment to enhance safety and monitor activities discreetly. Key locations such as hotels, the Grove, Ataoja’s Palace, and Freedom Park will have heightened security to manage the large influx of attendees.
The Osun-Osogbo Festival, a celebration of the goddess Osun, has a rich history dating back centuries. The event, which began last month with preliminary ceremonies including the Odun Egun Oba (masquerade festival) and the Iwo Popo (cleansing of the path), is now at its zenith. Tomorrow’s event will feature the Arugba, the revered calabash bearer, leading the procession to the Osun grove. This symbolic figure carries the sacred calabash, representing the goddess, and is followed by devotees and the Ataoja, the traditional ruler of Osogbo. The procession culminates at the grove, where participants will engage in spiritual rites and traditional performances by the sacred river.
