Former Lagos State Police spokesperson ACP Chike Oti, who is currently battling severe kidney disease, has made a heartfelt appeal to Nigerians for financial assistance to fund a critical kidney transplant.
In a statement released on Thursday in Lagos, Mr. Oti revealed that he has been diagnosed with fifth-stage renal failure, also known as end-stage renal disease, a condition exacerbated by chronic high blood pressure.
The diagnosis was confirmed at Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos.
“My dear brothers and sisters, I am ACP Chike Godwin Oti, recently assigned as ACP DFA at the Railway Police Command in Ebutte Metta, Lagos.
I must share with you that I have been diagnosed with end-stage renal disease,” Mr. Oti said in his statement.
“The only chance for my survival is to undergo hemodialysis twice a week until I can raise the N25 million required for a kidney transplant.
“To date, I have spent approximately N3.5 million on my one-week stay at Lagoon Hospital. Unfortunately, the cost of continued treatment far exceeds my financial capabilities. I am, therefore, reaching out for your support during this challenging time.”
