Road Repairs: Lagos  Diverts Lagos-Badagry Expressway Traffic Today

The Lagos State Government has announced significant traffic changes due to ongoing reconstruction work on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The state’s ministry of transportation disclosed the transport management plan on Sunday.

Starting Monday (today), motorists will face diversions as the first phase of the project gets underway.

The diversion, according to the authorities, will continue until Friday, 31st January 2025.

The initial phase of the reconstruction will focus on the stretch from Durbar Junction heading towards Badagry, affecting both the Toll Lane and the Service Lane.

Motorists heading towards Badagry from Lagos on the Toll Lane will be redirected to the Service Lane 100 meters away from the repair site. They will then rejoin the Toll Lane 100 meters past the Durbar Junction to continue their journey.

For those traveling towards Badagry on the Service Lane, traffic will be diverted to the Toll Lane 100 meters from the repair site.

After passing the repair zone, vehicles will switch back to the Service Lane 100 meters past the Durbar Junction to reach their destinations.

Motorists traveling to Badagry from Durbar Road will be rerouted to Fagbems Road, then to Apple Junction. From there, they will connect to Festac Road, proceed to Alakija Road, and finally access the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to continue their journey.

Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, called for understanding and patience from motorists.

He assured that traffic management officers will be stationed along the expressway to assist with vehicle movement and minimize disruptions.

“We understand the impact of these changes on daily commuters, and we appreciate your cooperation as we work to improve this vital road,” Osiyemi said.

Osiyemi also noted that additional traffic advisories will be issued for subsequent sections of the roadwork as each phase is completed
