The All Progressives Congress (APC) has publicly criticized Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, calling him a “serial complainer” regarding the recent Edo State governorship election results.
Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, made these remarks during a live interview on Arise TV.
Morka claimed that Obi has consistently rejected election results that do not favor him or his candidates.
“Peter Obi is a serial complainer who will not accept the result of any election that is not in his favor,” Morka stated.
His comments come in the wake of Obi’s dissatisfaction with the Edo State election results.
According to Morka, Obi’s opinions on the Edo election are irrelevant.
“He has a new pet project, which is to deny the Edo State election,” he added.
The APC official emphasized that the concerns raised by Obi and his party should be addressed through the legal system.
The statement refers to Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, and Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“If Akpata and Ighodalo are not satisfied, they should head to court and prove their allegations,” Morka advised.
Morka accused them of spreading unsubstantiated claims about the election process.
“I have not heard any substantial evidence to support their high-sounding allegations,” he said.
Morka stressed that winning a legal battle requires more than just bold statements; it needs concrete evidence.
He pointed out that in court, arguments must be backed by realistic proof to hold weight.
The Edo State governorship election took place recently, with Monday Okpebholo of the APC emerging as the winner.
Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes, while Ighodalo received 247,274 votes.
In comparison, Akpata polled only 22,763 votes.
These numbers highlight a significant gap between the winning party and the Labour Party.
The APC’s response to Obi reflects broader tensions in Nigerian politics.
Critics of the Labour Party, including Morka, often suggest that Obi’s refusal to accept defeat undermines the democratic process.
The APC’s remarks are part of a larger narrative in Nigeria, where election results frequently spark controversy.
Many political analysts argue that allegations of rigging and misconduct are common after elections.
This situation raises questions about the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system.
In recent years, the country has faced several challenges in ensuring free and fair elections.
The APC’s victory in Edo State has been celebrated by its supporters.
However, the Labour Party and its followers are determined to contest the outcome.
Obi has not been silent regarding the results, continuing to voice his concerns publicly.
Morka’s comments aimed to diminish Obi’s influence and emphasize the APC’s legitimacy.
“The election results are clear, and they reflect the will of the people,” Morka asserted.
The APC has positioned itself as the party of choice for the majority of Edo voters.
