Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has revealed that recent public allegations have pushed him to consider suicide, marking a dark moment in his life that he insists he has never experienced before.
The crossdresser, who has often found himself at the center of controversies, expressed his emotional turmoil in a social media post on Thursday.
According to Bobrisky, the ongoing negative backlash has taken a heavy toll on his mental health.
This revelation comes after a viral video surfaced earlier this week, alleging his involvement in corrupt dealings with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The video, shared by social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has intensified public scrutiny of Bobrisky’s recent legal troubles.
In the video, VeryDarkMan accused Bobrisky of bribing officials of the EFCC with N15 million to dismiss money laundering charges against him.
The explosive claim quickly went viral, reigniting debate around Bobrisky’s past and his dealings with authorities.
While Bobrisky stopped short of directly addressing the bribery allegations in his social media post, he revealed that the constant efforts by people to tear him down have led him to a breaking point.
In his own words, “I have never in my life thought about suicide, but now it’s coming to my head.”
In addition to the bribery allegations, the viral video claimed that human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, popular musician and activist Folarin Falana (also known as Falz), had allegedly demanded N10 million to secure a presidential pardon for Bobrisky.
These accusations have drawn significant attention, with both Femi Falana and Falz responding swiftly.
The Falana family, through their lawyers, released separate letters on Wednesday demanding a public retraction and apology from VeryDarkMan.
They gave him a 24-hour ultimatum to retract the claims or face legal action.
The Falanas strongly denied any involvement in the matter and expressed outrage at the allegations being spread in the video.
In response to the video, Bobrisky took to social media to clear the air.
He labeled the viral recording as “fake” and denied ever paying money to EFCC officials.
Bobrisky insisted that he served his full prison sentence, emphasizing that he did not seek or receive any special treatment.
He explained, “I served my time and completed my prison term. I did not bribe anyone, and I have not asked for any sympathy from the public.”
His post aimed to set the record straight and address what he called a “smear campaign” against him.
However, despite his clarification, the emotional strain of the situation seemed overwhelming for the popular influencer.
Bobrisky’s legal troubles date back to his August 2024 release from prison.
He had been jailed for six months for “abusing the naira” after a video surfaced of him spraying money at a lavish party.
The act, though common at Nigerian events, was considered an abuse of the national currency by authorities, leading to Bobrisky’s arrest and imprisonment.
His time in prison and subsequent release only added fuel to the fire of public debate about his persona, with supporters standing by him while critics continued to question his actions.
In a shocking revelation, Bobrisky opened up about his struggles with suicidal thoughts, a topic he has never publicly discussed before.
His recent post captured the emotional toll that the controversies have had on him.
“I don’t need no sympathy from anyone. The people I might have needed sympathy from are my late parents. But who will fight for you? Friends? HATERS YOU WON,” he wrote, expressing deep frustration at those who have been attacking him.
Bobrisky lamented the destructive actions of people who are intent on “bringing others down by force,” and this, according to him, has driven him to the brink.
