Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, is facing allegations of defamation against the prominent Nigerian lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN.

The controversy stems from comments made by VeryDarkMan regarding a leaked audio recording linked to crossdresser Bobrisky and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

VeryDarkMan took to his Instagram account to clarify his position.

In a video post, he expressed deep respect for Falana, calling him his uncle.

“I’ll never defame Uncle Femi Falana,” he stated firmly.

This incident gained attention after Nigerian rapper Falz threatened legal action against VeryDarkMan.

Falz and his father, Femi Falana, were accused of being involved in a voice recording that allegedly features a bribery scandal involving Bobrisky.

The situation escalated when a voice recording surfaced, suggesting that Bobrisky may have been involved in bribery with EFCC officials.

VeryDarkMan questioned the validity of Bobrisky’s claims in the leaked audio.

His inquiry was not meant to defame Falana, but to provoke a broader investigation into the serious allegations made against the EFCC.

In his defence, VeryDarkMan stated, “I respect Femi Falana too much to bring shame to him.”

VeryDarkMan’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, issued a statement regarding the matter.

He clarified that his client was simply seeking transparency and accountability.

The statement explained that they received a letter demanding a retraction of VeryDarkMan’s Instagram post.

Adeyanju highlighted that the post contained a voice recording related to Bobrisky, which sparked the current debate.

“Our client denies defaming Mr. Femi Falana, SAN,” the statement read.

Adeyanju emphasised that the focus should be on investigating Bobrisky’s allegations rather than pursuing a defamation case.

Public reactions have been mixed since the controversy began.

Many people on social media have voiced their opinions, with some supporting VeryDarkMan’s stance while others call for accountability from all parties involved.

In a Facebook post, Adeyanju also directed attention to the real issue at hand.

He urged Falz to address the matter directly with Bobrisky.

“For Falz: he should go and meet Bob about everything he/she said. Falz even admitted to having a phone call with Bob. End of discussion,” Adeyanju commented.

This response has sparked further debate about the responsibility of public figures in addressing such serious accusations.

VeryDarkMan’s lawyer reiterated that the primary focus should be on investigating Bobrisky’s claims.

“Our client believes that the appropriate line of action in the circumstances is an interagency investigation into the allegations,” Adeyanju said.
