Renowned Nigerian actor and producer Fred Amata has made serious allegations against his ex-wife, Agatha Amata.
He claims she married their daughter off without his consent.
This shocking claim has reignited old tensions between the former couple.
Amata voiced his grievances on social media, stating, “This is an abomination. This is taboo. Nowhere in the world, nowhere in Africa, nowhere in Delta State, and the lands where we come from can a woman give away her child in marriage, especially when the father is alive.”
The couple, once regarded as a power duo in the Nigerian entertainment industry, has two children together: Oreva and Stephanie.
They divorced in 2005, and the split was initially seen as amicable.
Agatha, known for her popular talk show, “Inside Out with Agatha,” is also the CEO of RaveTV Lagos and Trend FM100.9.
Three years after the divorce, Fred welcomed another daughter, Zino, with actress Ibinabo Fiberisima.
The recent controversy stems from a wedding held in the UK.
Fred Amata was notably absent when Stephanie got married.
However, he did attend the traditional wedding of his son, Oreva, in Lagos in June 2023.
In an Instagram post, Agatha shared a video from Stephanie’s wedding, where she walked their daughter down the aisle, a role traditionally filled by fathers.
This public display shocked Fred and led him to voice his outrage.
He expressed disbelief at Agatha’s actions, describing them as a grave injustice to their cultural values.
He further stated, “What malice would drive a woman, in an attempt to rubbish her ex-husband, to lead his daughter to marriage?”
The 61-year-old actor described himself as a heartbroken father seeking guidance.
He questioned what options were left to him.
He asked, “What kind of ‘good wife’ does a thing like this simply to make a man look bad?”
His statements reflect a deep sense of betrayal and hurt.
Amata is known for his role in the popular TV series “Legacy.”
He has now become a voice for fathers who feel excluded in family decisions.
The actor called on his fans and well-wishers for advice on how to navigate this situation.
He expressed his desire to maintain a strong bond with his children despite the challenges.
Fred also alleged that Agatha has damaged his reputation since their divorce.
He claimed she belittled his achievements and exploited his name for her own benefit.
In his own words, “I have remained silent, hoping that the wounds would heal and reconciliation might be possible.”
He recalled his role in the creation of her successful talk show, saying, “It was over 25 years ago that I came up with the unique idea of ‘Inside Out with Agatha.’”
Fred described how he worked hard to create a concept that had never been done in Nigeria.
His goal was to make Agatha a prominent figure in the media, similar to Oprah Winfrey.
He claimed that Agatha leveraged the success of “Inside Out with Agatha” against him.
He stated, “Inside Out is the source of all the Good Wife’s wealth. My genius, my sweat, my vision, and for 20 years, I swallowed it.”
