The Enugu State Police Command has made a shocking announcement regarding a tragic incident involving a father and a native doctor.
This incident has raised many questions about rituals and the safety of young people in the community.
Uwakwe Eze, a 67-year-old father, has been arrested alongside 48-year-old native doctor Enuwa Odugu.
Both are accused of conspiring to murder Eze’s 26-year-old son, Chikwado Celestine Eze.
Reports of Chikwado’s death surfaced last week, sparking widespread discussion on social media.
Details reveal that Chikwado had just received a visa to travel abroad and sought the native doctor’s help to prepare for his journey.
He believed that performing rituals would bring him good fortune and protection.
However, what followed was a tragic turn of events.
According to police statements, Uwakwe Eze took his son to the native doctor’s shrine for fortification rituals.
During these rituals, something went terribly wrong.
Chikwado was allegedly buried in a coffin as part of the ritual, but he did not survive the process.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead by medical professionals.
The circumstances surrounding his death have raised serious concerns.
In a statement from DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the police spokesperson, it was revealed that Odugu has confessed to the crime.
He claims that Chikwado’s death resulted from the young man’s failure to follow specific guidelines set forth during the ritual.
“During the ritual, the deceased was buried in a coffin but he unfortunately died in the process,” Ndukwe stated.
He continued, “The native doctor confessed to the crime and attributed the death of the victim to his non-adherence to certain ritualistic rules he earlier prescribed for him.”
This confession has shocked many in the community and has raised questions about the practices of native doctors.
The Enugu State Police Command has stated that the case is currently under investigation.
They are gathering more evidence and information to understand the full circumstances of Chikwado’s death.
Once investigations are concluded, Uwakwe Eze and Enuwa Odugu will be arraigned in court to face the charges against them.
“This case highlights the need for strict regulations and awareness about the activities of native doctors,” DSP Ndukwe emphasized.
