UNIMAID Professor Dies In Tragic Domestic Accident

A distinguished academic and former Head of the Department of Business Management at the University of Maiduguri, Prof. Ruth Wazis, has passed away following a fatal accident at her residence in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Confirming the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria, Commissioner of Police, Borno State Police Command, Yusuf Lawal revealed that the tragic event occurred on Sunday at the professor’s home.

According to Lawal, as Prof. Wazis was manoeuvring her vehicle into the garage, an unexpected mechanical malfunction caused the car to accelerate suddenly, resulting in a collision that caused severe injuries to her chest.

Despite efforts to rush her to the hospital, Prof. Wazis tragically succumbed to her injuries before medical help could arrive.

Her family later transported her remains to the hospital.

The news of her passing has elicited an outpouring of tributes and condolences from friends, students, and associates.

A Facebook user, Samson Stanley Dalatu, who mourned the professor on his wall said, “Good night Ama Professor Ruth Haruna Wazis, my greatest regret is not being able to thank you enough. You’re there for me when I needed admission and you’re there for me during graduation.”
